COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE & CARNIVAL!

Today was OPEN HOUSE DAY! From 1-3pm, the Mission was open for a jam-packed carnival and open house. We welcomed lots of children and families from our community, reconnecting with friends and meeting lots of new faces. We had cotton candy, a popcorn machine, hotdogs and lots of snacks, tons of fun games, craft stations, a bouncy house, resources to introduce families to what HFK has to offer, and a Gospel message from Pastor Matt.

We are so thankful for all who came out to help with this event, and we can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store for the 2022-2023 season here at Hope for Kids.

Our next event is just around the corner: CLUB HOPE is coming up on September 10! Click here to volunteer.

SHARE HOPE this Valentine's Day: build a gift bag!

This Valentine’s Day, we have a special way for you, your family or your church to spread hope + share Jesus’ love with children in Springfield! We are putting together gift bags, including fun toys, Gospel booklets, candy, and more to bring to our kids on February 13. Instead of partnering with our HFK family to bring in individual item donations, this time we have a form that you can fill out to select what you would like to add to a gift bag valued at $20—and we’ll do the shopping! With going into stores being a little more complicated these days, this will be the simplest way to get these gifts into our kids’ hands. Click here to build a gift bag! Please fill out this form no later than February 7 to allow time to put together gift bags in time for Valentine’s Day!

How it works (all included on the form!)

  • choose a gift bag recipient gender and age range: 4-6, 7-9 or 10-12

  • choose five items from options on the form

  • add a NLT Bible to your gift bag if you’d like

  • add a personal note if you’d like

  • let us know your contact info

  • gift your selections through PayPal or check, and we’ll take it from there!

Valentine’s Day is always such a special time at Hope for Kids—and even though this year will still be different from our regular events, we can’t wait to put these gift bags in the hands of our kids and tell them how much Jesus loves them.

Thank you for sharing hope this season!

HOPE IS ALIVE: 2020 Christmas Outreach at Hope for Kids

Christmas is almost here, and hope is happening!

With Christmas just around the corner, we are so excited to announce a few ways that you can get involved in a very unique kind of Christmas here at Hope for Kids, and ongoing ways that you can partner with our ministry!

CHRISTMAS BAGS

If your church or family is looking for a simple way to make a difference, this year we will be collecting filled gift bags for kids ages 3 - 16 years old!

In an effort to keep gift bags generally the same in size and value, we are offering the following guidelines:

FOOD DELIVERIES

Bags of Hope continues to bless families throughout Springfield, giving us a tangible way to spread hope and show them the love of Jesus. We give out food donations as fast as they come in week after week!

We’ve recently been given an opportunity to partner with a monthly food co-op! This would allow us to receive shipments of high quality, farm-fresh food to consistently deliver to our families for about $500 a month. If you have shopped or dropped off groceries for Bags of Hope this year and are wanting a more simple way to get behind this ministry, partnering with us towards this food co-op opportunity would be incredible! Aldi gift cards are a huge help as well since they allows us to shop efficiently for families when an emergency need arises.

WINTER COATS & BOOTS

We are currently collecting all sizes of new and gently used winter coats and boots! Contact us to set up drop off.

PRAYER

If you would like to be a part of an all-night prayer meeting, or meet Matt and/or other staff at the Mission to pray, please reach out!

BIBLES

We are collecting Kids Hands On Bibles, Kids Action Bibles, and Adults Bibles!

BUILDING PROJECTS

We have had two churches bless us by helping us begin work projects in our building! If you would like to be a part of painting, framing in rooms downstairs, or any other work projects, contact us for more details.

If you would like to meet building supply needs, paper towels, hot cups, paper plates, toilet paper, 50 gallon trash bags, hand soap, hand sanitizer are all supplies we are running low on.

Christmas is always a special time for Hope for Kids, and we can’t wait for this year.

Even with all the difficulties and ministry pivoting that have come with 2020, we know that God still has so much in store. Children and families are being reached with God’s love and seeing His power to change lives. Through the rest of this year, we will continue meeting physical needs with grocery and winter coat deliveries, praying with our families and meeting our kids where they are with the story of the Hope of Christmas through intentional community outreach every Saturday in December. We are so thankful for all God is doing and we are so glad you get to be a part of it!

YOU CAN HELP US as we minister during Corona season!

We will be distributing Bags of Hope to as many families in need as we can in our community! As we enter neighborhoods and hand out physical provision, we are praying that we can further establish the Lord's name and the name of Hope for Kids in these areas and connect families to our ministry.

  • 1 pound pasta

  • 3 pounds rice

We know God has a plan for this time in history, and we are doing everything we can in this time to bring glory to Him. We're in this together!

Impact Clubs WEEK TWO!

Another incredible week of Impact Clubs! Thank you for all your prayers over this week. We're in this together! This weekend, please be praying for our upcoming week of clubs--this will be our first strategic outreach into the Indian Orchard area near our new building and every family we connect with will likely be brand new to Hope for Kids. God has so much in store for our team and our ministry and we can't wait to see what He will do next week!

Check out this week's photo galleries and daily recaps below.

DAY ONE

We had an amazing time reconnecting with a lot of kids we know at this location and meeting some new families. Our team did a great job leading this club despite many distractions and a couple technical difficulties and we are so proud of them! One little girl gave her life to Jesus and all the kids who attended heard about how much God loves them.

DAY TWO

Fourteen kids came to hang out with us during club and even more showed up to play basketball and jump rope! This location is another place we have been for several years and yesterday we got to talk to a few parents we've met over the years. These clubs are one of the best ways for Hope for Kids to build credibility with the families as we show up right in their community and show God's love to their children!

Your prayers were answered and there were a lot fewer distractions at this club--although at one point in our club there were firecrackers being set off on one side of the neighborhood and a metal trashcan being hit with a hammer on the other side! 😂We're working with a lot of younger kids at these clubs and their attention spans tend to be a lot shorter, but we serve an awesome God who can work out all the details for the truth of His Word to sink into their little hearts!

Day Three

Our Day Three club was quite chaotic, but amongst all the distractions, we are praising God for two salvations yesterday, and many more children who heard the Gospel!

Day Four

So many children came out to our club on Day Four--there were about 30 children and parents listening during the Bible lesson and Gospel presentation! God answered our prayers, removing a few of the distractions and drawing so many kids to hear about Him. Our friendships with these sweet kids are continuing to grow and we are so thankful for all God has done.

Day Five

The final day of Week Two was awesome! This week was definitely a little tougher than the first week for a lot of different reasons, but God is working in this neighborhood. We met so many new kids who can't wait to get connected to Hope for Kids through our weekly church service and our school year programs!

The Hope for Kids Den IN ACTION!

On June 16, we held a dedication service at the Hope for Kids Den! We are so thankful for each volunteer from Hope for Kids who came to support this new part of our ministry. We were also blessed by several volunteers who worked with The Lion's Den when they owned our building--it was amazing to hear stories of God's faithfulness through the years within these walls! Pictures from this awesome night will be coming soon.

Check out this video recapping what God has already done in three short months at the Hope for Kids Den.

Kids Club at the Hope for Kids Den!

We had such a great time this past Thursday at the last week of our brand-new Kids Club program! Teens from Pioneer Valley Christian Academy provided dinner for everyone and helped lead the event, and we were able to give away huge bags of popcorn to all the kids thanks to a generous donation from the Springfield Rescue Mission! We are looking forward to running this Kids Club again beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. Check out pictures from this awesome night below!
