Over the past year, many children were reached through events held at Evangelical Covenant Church. Our final event at ECC was in December 2018; keep reading to learn about the new Event Hope format!

In March, God gave Hope for Kids an amazing gift—a building! Read this amazing story here.

Hope for Kids Family Church continued, moving from our original location at a YMCA to the Hope for Kids Den. We held our first baptism service in June 2018. We also held a Family Church Christmas Musical in December.

In June, we held a week-long training camp called Impact Clubs Training and the teens and young adults who completed this program put on Impact Clubs, week-long outreaches held in Springfield neighborhoods.

Club Hope, our weekly after-school program, had a trial run in April and May and was officially launched in September. Read more about this growing ministry below!

Mentor Hope, our after-school tutoring and skill-building class, was held from September to October. We hope to start this program again soon—stay tuned.

Each Saturday at 8am, we have been holding a prayer meeting at the Hope for Kids Den. Our ministry relies completely on God for our provision.

This Christmas, 12 Days of Hope took place thanks to help from many of our volunteers! We also hosted a Christmas themed event and Christmas musical. Check out all the videos from Christmas 2018 here—it was a great month!

Family Church

Each Sunday from 1pm-3pm, we hold Hope for Kids Family Church at the Den. Children and their families from all walks of life are welcomed for a hot meal, time of worship, and a Bible class for kids or an encouraging sermon for adults. As families and individuals return week after week, they have a chance to hear the message of salvation, build relationships with the Hope for Kids family, and grow in their faith. Learn more about Family Church here.

Prayer meeting

Every Saturday morning at 8:00am, you can join Pastor Matt at the Hope for Kids Den as we bring our ministry to the Lord. Prayer is the foundation of Hope for Kids, and we hope you will take the opportunity to get involved! Visit the Prayer Meeting page here.

Our summer ministry program is kicking off very soon! Find all the info about Impact Clubs Training and Impact Clubs here.

Tuesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm from September-May, the Hope for Kids Den is open for Club Hope. [For specific Club dates, check the Calendar!] Kids ages 4-12 have dinner, participate in relationship-building game time, hear a lesson centered around the Gospel and spend time in small-group breakout sessions. Kids work through a Bible memory booklet during breakout sessions and earn points to spend on the last week of each month at the “HFK Store”! This weekly opportunity is an answer to prayer. God’s love can be truly present in the lives of these kids as they attend a club run by leaders they know they can count on week after week. Learn more about Club Hope here.

Event Hope: ON BREAK UNTIL FALL 2019

On specific Saturday mornings during the school year from 12pm-2pm, Event Hope brings together families we have connected with from all over the city [For specific Event dates, check the Calendar].  At Event Hope, children from all over Springfield receive a hot meal, attend Christ-centered chapel time, and participate in relationship-building activities. It’s an awesome way to stay in touch with all of our kids and connect them to our volunteers for further discipleship! Learn more about Event Hope here.

How can I help?

There are so many ways YOU can get involved in the ministry of Hope for Kids! Check out all the options below.

Help with Ministry needs

We rely completely on God to fund our work through prayer and donations. If you would like to be a part of what He is doing in Springfield, you can visit our Donate page.

If you’d like to help us keep up with the many supplies our busy ministry runs out of, check out our Supply Needs page! We’re always in need of things like paper goods, coffee supplies and food items.

We also are always in need of meal helpers for all of our events. If you’d like to make a meal for a Sunday or Tuesday event, please visit our sign up page and click “Provide a Meal” to sign up!

Volunteer at a Club or Event

It takes a village to run events at the Den! We are always looking for volunteers to work with us. Each event requires the following volunteer roles to be filled: group leaders, group helpers, food and clean-up helper, music leader, registration leader and security leader.

Screened volunteers: view our sign up page and click “Club Hope” or “Event Hope” to volunteer on either Tuesday nights (Club Hope) or Saturday mornings (Event Hope)! Volunteering is a one-month commitment. Check the calendar for specific event and club dates.

help with renovations

There are currently several projects at the Hope for Kids Den that we are looking forward to completing in order to make our space more efficient, safe and welcoming for the kids we serve. If you would like to provide supplies or manpower to help these projects get completed, please let us know
Downstairs classroom projects: repair one window, fix trim around windows, scrape paint off one window and carpet the floor
Kitchen projects: build shelves and cubbies for organization
Upstairs: paint walls and stairwell
